Motorola Computer Group to Use Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 for Strategic Thrust in the Enterprise Market; MCG to Integrate Windows NT 4.0 in PowerPC Desktop PC and Server Products

TEMPE, Ariz.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 12, 1996--Motorola Computer Group (MCG) announces that it will be using Microsoft(R) Windows NT(R) operating system, version 4.0, on its PowerPC line of desktop PCs and servers.
MCG has been committed to Windows NT 3.51 and will be incorporating Windows NT 4.0 into its current and future desktop and server commercial systems product line, designed especially to meet the needs of the enterprise market.

"Windows NT 4.0 will be the cornerstone of our Windows NT/PowerPC- enabled systems business and will help broaden our PowerPC product offering beyond the AIX(R) and Mac(TM) OS operating environments."

In addition to integrating Windows NT 4.0 into their commercial systems product offering, MCG is concentrating on porting applications running on Windows NT to the PowerPC platform. To focus their Windows NT application porting efforts, MCG recently announced development of the PowerPC Applications and Systems Solutions Group. MCG has also announced establishment of an ISV porting center based in Menlo Park. The porting center will continue its efforts by making Windows NT 4.0 available to ISVs in the porting process.
