First Community Bank Goes Interactive on the Web; City National Bank Uses Edify's Electronic Workforce Software for Self Service Online Banking
Business Wire, August 12, 1996
SANTA CLARA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 12, 1996--Edify Corporation (NASDAQ: EDFY), the leading provider of self service software, today announced that City National Bank, a community bank based in Taylor, Texas, has installed and gone live with its self service Web banking solution based on Edify software.
City National Bank is the first community bank in the country to offer live interactive service for its customers via the World Wide Web. The Bank has been running pilot phases of the applications over the past several weeks and is now live on the World Wide Web at http://www.cnbt.com.
City National is providing its customers direct access via the Web and telephone to checking, savings, installment and commercial loan accounts, certificates of deposit, individual retirement accounts and credit card statements. Edify Electronic Workforce software provides the front-end interface to both Web and telephone access as well as the back-end integration to the Bank's databases and information repositories.
"We are excited to be the first community bank offering such a full range of services on the Web," said Andrew D. Littlejohn, president at City National Bank. "Edify software has enabled us to quickly build and deploy these applications so that we can offer our services to online customers everywhere. With Edify's help, the rapid deployment of our systems is a dramatic competitive advantage over other larger banks that are taking much longer to get their systems up and running."
"Extending self service to the Web which combines convenience and customer service adds significant value to banks of any size," said William Soward, Edify's director of application marketing. "City National's success in offering their services online shows that smaller banks can now compete with larger financial institutions, thereby leveling the playing field and increasing end user access to important account information and transactions. We are delighted to be working with City National as their Web banking partner."
About Edify at City National Bank
With today's emphasis on customer convenience, City National Bank sought ways to offer new services to its existing customer base as well as to increase market share. City National determined that customer direct access to banking services via telephone and the Web was their strategy for competitive advantage. As a $115 million community bank, City National was able to quickly build and deploy Web banking applications with Edify's Electronic Workforce that can rival larger national banks. By deploying Edify software, City National can now compete head-to-head with national banks and, in most cases, can offer a wider range of banking services online than its nationwide competitors.
