Business Wire, August 13, 1996

PALO ALTO, Calif--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 13, 1996--VDOnet Corporation has today announced that VDOLive(tm) is now supported seamlessly in the newest version of Microsoft(r)'s Explorer Internet browser. This means that a user of Internet Explorer 3.0 can easily see Internet video content in real time.

"More than 1.5 million Internet users have, to date, downloaded the VDOLive player," said Asaf Mohr, president and CEO of VDOnet Corporation. "With new versions of Internet Explorer supporting VDOLive, we expect that many more Web users will be able to enjoy the richness of video on the Net."

VDOLive is a leading product for broadcasting video in real time on the Net. By taking advantage of "streamed" video, Web users no longer need to download a file and wait minutes before the even a short video clip is ready to be viewed. VDOLive is based on VDOnet's technology which enables virtually anyone on the Web to enjoy real-time video.

This technology dynamically adapts to the available bandwidth and can be used with dial-up modems, high-speed connections, or Intranets. To date, in addition to the many Web users who have downloaded the VDOLive player, the VDOLive server is being used by more than 100 Web sites, including CBS News, PBS, CBC, CNBC, Fox, Preview Vacations, and many others. Applications of VDOLive range from news and information to entertainment, advertising and promotion, and various corporate applications, including distance learning and training.

Mohr explained that VDOnet was able to easily integrate the VDOLive player with Explorer 3.0 by using Microsoft's ActiveX(tm) development tools. As a result of this development effort, VDOLive will now work on most Microsoft applications.

"As the industry embraces ActiveX as an open standard, we see tremendous potential for ActiveX controls such as VDOLive," said Brad Chase, vice president of marketing for Microsoft's Internet Platform and Tools division. "Web authors can take advantage of VDOLive using a variety of containers and platforms, including the newly released Internet Explorer 3.0"

The VDOLive Player for ActiveX can be downloaded for free immediately from VDOnet's Web site.
