Extended Systems receives ISO 9001 registration, company achieves the pinnacle of international quality assurance standards
Business Wire, August 14, 1996
BOISE, Idaho--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 14, 1996--Extended Systems announced today that it has achieved registration to the ISO 9001 International Quality Standard.
ISO 9001 is the most comprehensive standard of the ISO 9000 series of International Standards which define quality assurance management. Written by the International Organization for Standardization, the ISO 9000 series has been adopted by 80 countries, including the United States, Canada, the European Union and Japan.
"ISO 9001 registration signifies the true commitment Extended Systems has to our customers worldwide," stated Steve Simpson, president and CEO of Extended Systems. "It also epitomizes the dedication Extended Systems has to quality as well as to the continuous improvement of our products and services -- which ultimately sets us apart from other manufacturers."
The ISO 9001 Standard provides a model for quality assurance in design, development, production, installation and service. The Standard does not specify how a firm's quality assurance processes must occur, instead, it mandates that a company define appropriate quality standards, document its processes, and prove that it consistently adheres to these standards and processes.
"The reason ISO 9001 has been adopted so rapidly worldwide is that customers who purchase from firms that are registered to the Standard can be assured their suppliers at least have a fundamental quality system in place," added Scott Ritchie, VP of operations for Extended Systems. "It is also interesting to note that many European companies are now requiring their suppliers to be registered to the ISO 9000 Standard. As the business world continues to expand on a global basis, registration to the Standard will become critical for continued success."
