COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 21, 1996

Century Communications provides Colorado Springs cable

customers with the Interactive Channel with local information

provided by the Gazette Telegraph

A new concept in family oriented cable television will be unveiled on August 30 when Century Communications, formerly Cablevision, and the Gazette Telegraph, published by Freedom Communications, offer cable customers in Colorado Springs the Interactive Channel, a service of Source Media, Inc. (Nasdaq:SRCM). The Interactive Channel provides subscribers with local and national programming pertinent to Century's customers, accessible 24 hours a day on cable television using the subscribers' remote control. The channel will be available to Century's 105,000 subscriber network for a monthly charge of $6.95.

"Century Communications is pleased to be the first cable company in the country to offer the Interactive Channel to its customers. This service will give subscribers the unique opportunity to conveniently and easily access information and services relevant to their community and daily personal lives," said Bill Shreffler, Century Communications Western Division Vice President.

NEWS, WEATHER, SPORTS 24 HOURS A DAY

The Gazette Telegraph will be the primary provider of local information such as news, weather, sports, classifieds and local events continually up-dated throughout the day. National news including stock market information and weather in cities across the country will also be available. Using its new state-of-the-art facilities, the Gazette Telegraph news team gathers and edits news and sports stories of local interest to the Colorado Springs community.

Said Gazette Telegraph Publisher Chris Anderson, "The Interactive Channel allows us to offer our newspaper readers another credible and accessible source of news information -- at any time, day or night -- through the television set."

LOCAL RESTAURANT, TV AND CINEMA

The Interactive Channel will be a comprehensive source of information on local restaurants, movie theater schedules and TV listings. A simple click of the remote will allow subscribers to quickly access this information. Subscribers will be able to search an ever- current 7-day TV guide by title, topic or alphabetically, and direct link into programs in progress, based on their own viewing preferences.

SHOPPING AND ENTERTAINMENT

Shopping on demand over the Interactive Channel will allow customers to purchase items from national stores such as JC Penney, Waldenbooks and 1-800 Flowers. Through CD-Sampler, viewers will be able to select titles from a variety of music styles, sample songs from selected disks, and make purchases.

EDUCATION

The Interactive Channel seeks to improve communications between local schools and parents through its Teacher's Assistance Program (TAP). TAP will enable teachers to leave daily messages for parents regarding homework, classroom and school activities. Lunch menus, school closings and other important school information will also be available.

Original Interactive Channel children's programming will offer fun and challenges, and includes Story Time and games such as "Math Mob," "Grammarsaurus," "States Game" and "Presidents' Game." Interactivity urges children to think and make decisions.

Tom Oliver, President and Chief Operating Officer of the Interactive Channel, said, "Launching the Interactive Channel in Colorado Springs with Century and the Gazette Telegraph brings to cable TV viewers a service which is easily accessible and useful. It offers subscribers simple access to information and services that are designed to make their lives easier and to bring the community closer together."

Source Media is a leader in the interactive programming and services industry.
