Lockheed Martin Electronic Systems Canada wins contract for advanced Army target system

MONTREAL--(BUSINESS WIRE)--August 29, 1996--Lockheed Martin Electronic Systems Canada, a business unit of Lockheed Martin Corporation (NYSE: LMT), has been awarded an $18.3 million contract from the Canadian government to produce and install four computer-controlled targetry systems that will deliver realistic live-fire field training for Canadian soldiers.

The competitive contract award puts Lockheed Martin in a leading position in the training and simulation business in Canada.

The integrated targetry suites consist of static and moving target mechanisms, a target control device and hostile fire simulators. The systems will be used at army bases at Gagetown, New Brunswick; Valcartier, Quebec; Petawawa, Ontario; and Wainwright, Alberta.

The contract will be performed over the next two and a half years, with two range installations in the fall of 1997 and two installations in the fall of 1998.
