Accugraph's IP Address Management tools to be featured at SOFTBANK's Networld+Interop shows worldwide; Software will assign, maintain, & track IP addresses for show vendors

Business Wire, August 29, 1996

EL PASO, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 29, 1996--Accugraph Corp. (NASDAQ:ACCUF)(TSE:ACU.A) Thursday announced that its IP Address Management system software has been chosen to manage vendor IP addresses at the Networld Interop trade shows held throughout the year in North America and Europe.

SOFTBANK Expos, organizers of Networld Interop, made the selection after very successful pilot programs at the Las Vegas and Frankfurt shows.

Accugraph provided SOFTBANK with multiple licenses, hardware, and training, support, and implementation services. SOFTBANK's InteropNet is the world's largest, most advanced trade show network. It's the industry's first and only live, multi-vendor, multi-protocol network, linking vendors and other show participants to the global Internet.

"We were looking for a way to be more responsive to the vendors' needs," said Stan Lam, Network Services Specialist for the InteropNet. "With scripts created in PERL, quick changes were difficult. However, Accugraph's IP Address Management system has the flexibility and robustness to allow us to change, add, and re-assign vendor addresses faster and more effectively. IP Address Management has saved us a tremendous amount of time."

Lam added, "The IP Address Management system software and the support services from Accugraph were so helpful, we're considering implementing a total physical network management solution from Accugraph."

Accugraph's IP Address Management system automates IP address assignment, maintenance, and tracking. It can "intelligently" suggest an address when a request is made. It tracks nodes in a network, routes outgoing messages, and recognizes incoming messages.

Network administrators can configure the system by entering information parameters, such as site name, device types, user access, and the rules by which the system will suggest an address when requested. It allows users to automatically allocate subnets, validate and release existing addressing, and much more. And Accugraph recently enhanced the functionality of the system with the availability of a web client for submitting IP address requests. Requests for addresses can now be made via the web.

Ron Munden, Accugraph senior vice president, said, "SOFTBANK's selection of our IP Address Management system to maintain their InteropNet addresses is a major validation of our software and services. And from a marketing standpoint, the Interop shows will showcase our products to all the major vendors in the industry, as well as to potential end user customers."

Accugraph's Network Information Software is a key element in helping telecommunications engineers, enterprise network administrators, and facility managers design, track, and manage their infrastructures. The company's corporate headquarters is in El Paso, with research and development facilities in El Paso and Huntsville, Ala. Accugraph is publicly traded on NASDAQ (Symbol:ACCUF) and on the Toronto Stock Exchange (Symbol:ACU.A).
