Objectivity customer American Meter recognized in Top Object Technology Awards; Adra, Nousoft and Object Guild demonstrate Objectivity/DB-based Web/new media products
Business Wire, August 30, 1996
MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 30, 1996-- Objectivity(r), Inc.'s customer American Meter Company was recognized for object application excellence last week at Object World West at the San Jose Convention Center.
Objectivity partners, Adra Systems, Nousoft Inc., and Object Guild demonstrated next-generation web/new media solutions.
Their software products, built on Objectivity/DB, let users share new media content while maintaining complex relationships among the data. The complexity of these relationships is beyond the range of traditional relational databases.
Object Technology Awards
American Meter Company was chosen as a finalist for the top Object Technology Awards. Their Objectivity/DB-based software control and data acquisition (SCADA) system, Pantheon(r) was honored during award announcements at Object World West. "We replaced a relational database with Objectivity/DB in order to achieve our users' performance requirements," said Ken Warner, software engineer at American Meter, who was recognized at the ceremony.
"The replacement was performed with minimal impact to the application, with virtually no logic errors, and in less than six weeks time," he continued. "Selecting Objectivity/DB allowed us to eliminate almost 30% of the code in our application -- code initially required to map the application's complex data model to the relational database."
American Meter, located in Scott Depot, W.Va., is a leader in delivering solutions to the natural gas industry. The panel of judges was comprised of Computerworld, Object Management Group, Object World Corporation and IBM. Other award applicants using Objectivity/DB include Citibank for a foreign exchange derivatives trading system and Nousoft for a multimedia asset management system.
Object World Demonstrations
Three production applications were demonstrated in the Objectivity booth at Object World West. Nousoft demonstrated a knowledge-based, multimedia asset management system designed for intellectual property and copyright management. Nousoft manages distribution of both image information and resources to display and manipulate this information.
Adra Systems showcased Matrix(tm), the leading object-based Enterprise Product Data Management (PDM) system enabling information retrieval through an intuitive graphical user interface. Matrix is known for high speed modeling of enterprise data and processes without reprogramming requirements or large system integration efforts.
Object Guild presented WebCatalog(tm), providing a transparent means for selectively serving information from an object database over the Web. Easy-to-use functions manage huge data repositories while minimizing the maintenance hours required to update information on a commercial Web browser.
