Lockheed Martin Electronic Systems Canada wins $7 million contract for mid-life update of naval auxiliary vessel

MONTREAL--(BUSINESS WIRE)--August 6, 1996--Lockheed Martin Electronic Systems Canada, a business unit of Lockheed Martin Corporation (NYSE: LMT), has been awarded a $7 million contract as part of the Marystown Shipyard team for the mid-life update of the naval auxiliary vessel, Quest.
Quest is the Canadian Forces auxiliary vessel used for scientific research and development activities. Its mission involves research of ocean characteristics and platform acoustics. The vessel is used to test new electronic equipment under development or investigation by the Canadian navy.
The update project is aimed at lowering the ship's acoustic profile and improving its navigation and communication capabilities. Lockheed Martin will perform the role of systems integrator for updating the communications and navigation equipment, in addition to managing the electro-magnetic emission aspects of the project. The company will also design, develop and test the complex communication and navigation systems.
