Business Wire, August 6, 1996
NEW ORLEANS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 6, 1996--MetaTools and Sun Microsystems on Tuesday announced a joint marketing agreement to make MetaTools' award-winning plug-in application, MetaTools' Convolver, available on Sun platform.
Convolver for Sun will run with Adobe Photoshop on Sun UltraSPARC and SPARC workstations.
MetaTools' Convolver is the industry's leading plug-in filter generator for use in professional digital imaging design. Convolver provides users with the only real-time visual way to design filter effects derived from custom convolution kernels, which generate blurs, sharpens, embosses, tinting, color contrast, gaussian blurs and unsharp masking.
The intuitive and easy-to-use interface allows users to define complex filters simply, preview their effects quickly and process changes in a single step to maximize both quality and performance.
"This partnership brings MetaTools' advanced imaging technology and intuitive interfaces to Sun's multimedia-ready workstations," said John Wilczak, founder and chief executive officer of MetaTools.
"Sun's high-performance, multitasking environment will allow users to expand their degrees of creative performance and productivity."
"Many of our customers have been asking for the incredible imaging capability that MetaTools, the leader in plug-in technologies, brings to the desktop," said Katherine Parker, market development manager, Media and Publishing Industries, Sun Microsystems.
"Sun's partnership with MetaTools allows us to offer complete digital effects solutions to the growing tier of creative and production users demanding ever-increasing performance and quality."
Pricing, availability and distribution will be announced upon the release of MetaTools' Convolver for Sun.
