Abacus Direct Corp. files registration statement for initial public offering

WESTMINSTER, Colo.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 7, 1996--Abacus Direct Corp. ("Abacus" or the "company"; proposed NASDAQ National Market Symbol ABDR) announced the filing of a registration statement with the Securities and Exchange Commission in connection with an initial public offering of 5,068,000 shares of its common stock.
Of the 5,068,000 shares being offered, 454,545 are being offered by Abacus and 4,613,455 are being offered by selling stockholders. The offering is being managed by an underwriting group led by Robertson, Stephens & Co. LLC, Hambrecht & Quist LLC, and William Blair and Co., LLC.
Abacus Direct Corp., is a leading provider of information products and marketing research services to the direct marketing industry, and in particular the catalog industry. Abacus has created a comprehensive database which includes consumer purchasing data from over 600 merchandise catalogs. Abacus uses this proprietary database and its advanced statistical modeling technology to provide direct marketers with information and analysis which allows direct marketers to increase response rates and profits from their marketing campaigns.
