Business Objects First DSS Vendor Accepted into SAP'S Complementary Software Program; Industry Leaders Tighten Partnership with Joint Marketing Agreement
Business Wire, Dec 10, 1996
SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 10, 1996--Business Objects (NASDAQ: BOBJY), the world's leading provider of integrated query, reporting and online analytical processing (OLAP) tools, today announced that it has signed a marketing agreement with SAP America Inc., making Business Objects the first decision support system (DSS) tools vendor to be accepted into SAP's Complementary Software Program (CSP).
The agreement formalizes the existing strong relationship between the two companies. Under the joint marketing agreement, Business Objects will receive a number of advantages in working with SAP to benefit SAP customers. Business Objects will be eligible to participate in a number of programs.
The agreement provides for enhanced information exchange between respective sales and marketing groups, and access and support to ensure customer satisfaction.
Business Objects is already a leader in providing decision support access to R/3 data. To date, Business Objects has:
-- Delivered a Rapid Deployment Template (RDT) for SAP's R/3 Logistics Information System, a component of SAP's Open Information Warehouse. This RDT saves customers time and money by providing them with a rapid way to deploy decision support on R/3 data.
-- Published a technical white paper that provides customers with relative advantages and tradeoffs in using the four primary methods of accessing R/3 data.
-- Demonstrated a prototype of BusinessObjects that uses SAP's business application programming interface (BAPI) to provide native access to the information stored in R/3 via SAP's application layer. Business Objects is the first DSS vendor to demonstrate this capability at SAP's SAPPHIRE '96 user conference in Philadelphia in August 1996.
"We are very pleased to reinforce our already strong relationship with Business Objects by selecting them for our Complementary Software Program," said Alex Ott, vice president of global partnerships. "With the agreement signed, our mutual customers have the advantage of open information exchange between our two companies.
"To that end, we will continue to work closely together to provide flexible information access to address our customers' needs. Through the business framework and our Business APIs, we are continuing to provide an architecture for integrating third-party products with R/3."
"We are honored to be the first decision support tools vendor to partner with SAP at this level," said Dave Kellogg, vice president of corporate marketing at Business Objects. "We are committed to working closely with SAP and to leading the market for decision support solutions on R/3 data."
