Hitachi Data Systems' Midrange Storage Family Certified by RAID Advisory Board; Customers receive added assurance that data investments are protected
Business Wire, Dec 10, 1996
SANTA CLARA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 10, 1996--Hitachi Data Systems (HDS) announced today the 5700 Midrange Disk Series is now functionally certified by the RAID Advisory Board (RAB) as meeting the criteria for extraordinary data protection and availability using redundant arrays of independent disks (RAID).
This is part of an on-going HDS certification program to provide customers with the added assurance of compatibility, functionality and performance verification by independent third-parties. HDS emphasis on certification helps customers to eliminate the guesswork associated with selecting products that keep their investments in data and application solutions secure.
"The 5700 passed a very stringent and thorough set of test procedures which were based on the high level of data protection and availability expected from a RAID subsystem," said Kirk Straw, vice president, Hitachi Data Systems. "This certification ensures customers that the 5700 subsystem will not compromise the enterprise's data integrity due to an architectural, design or implementation issue."
HDS' 5700 Midrange Disk Series passed all 138 RAB tests, receiving functional certification and earning the right to bear the RAB Gold Logo. The RAB certification logo provides for consistency in the testing of RAID products and for standardization in the manner by which the meaningful, comparable tests results are formatted, audited and certified. The tests were independently audited and verified by Xyratex, Newport Beach, Calif.
5700 Midrange Series
The 5700 series is a cost-effective RAID storage solution that delivers mainframe-class performance and data security to client/server environments. The 5700 features multi-host connectivity and brings flexibility to both Microsoft Windows NT and UNIX environments. In addition to Microsoft NT, the HDS 5700 series also supports Netware, OS/400, DEC, HP, IBM RS/6000, Sun, and Sequent servers.
