Island Data to host HP EEsof Knowledgebases, provide 7x24 on-line access to EDA defects information
Business Wire, Dec 10, 1996
SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 10, 1996--Island Data, a provider of on-line technical support tools and automated customer response call avoidance services, has announced that it will host knowledgebase information for Hewlett-Packard's HP EEsof Division, Westlake Village, Calif.
HP EEsof's high-frequency electronic design automation (FDA) tools were developed especially for today's RF, high-frequency, and high-speed digital design engineers. These products include schematic capture, high-frequency circuit, electromagnetic, and system simulators, layout tools, libraries that now include more than 90,000 parts, device modeling systems, and links to instrumentation and third-party software.
These tools are integrated in a graphical user environment that helps engineers solve design problems, from concept to production.
In order to provide better service to their customers, HP EEsof will utilize Island Data's Datawave 7x24 service to provide continuous on-line technical support and access to its database of known defects.
This allows the HP EEsof end-user to use knowledgebase search capabilities, to submit incidents on-line directly to the support center, and to determine if the problem they are experiencing has been reported to the support center and if fixes for known hardware and software defects are available.
"Island Data's familiarity with our database and their ability to act quickly to implement changes has been a determining factor in our decision to make this service available to our end-users," Michael C'deBaca, HP EEsof Web master, said. "Island Data has been very responsive and we are impressed with the company's knowledge of the technical support industry."
One of the most important features of Island Data's service is the ability for an end-user to access the hosted databases 24- hours-per-day, seven-days-per-week, 365-days-per-year effectively providing service to any HP EEsof end-user around the world.
"This service will definitely be rewarding for HP," Island Data Executive Vice President Jeff Stanford said. "The average technical support call for HP EEsof is very expensive, and our Datawave 7x24 service will provide both a cost and management solution to their customer support needs."
Island Data was formed in February 1995 in San Diego. The company is committed to providing cutting-edge Internet-based technical support and call avoidance solutions to the customer and technical support industry.
