Storage Dimensions' SuperFlex 3000 with DGR Certified by Microsoft for Windows NT
Business Wire, Dec 10, 1996
MILPITAS, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 10, 1996--Storage Dimensions, the leading independent vendor of high-availability client/server storage systems, today announced that its high-availability RAID storage system, SuperFlex(TM) 3000 with DGR(TM), has been awarded Microsoft certification for Windows NT 3.51 and 4.0.
The NT certification means that SuperFlex 3000 with DGR has passed Microsoft's extensive compatibility and stability testing with the Windows NT operating system. As a result of the certification, SuperFlex 3000 with DGR now appears on Microsoft's Windows NT Hardware Compatibility List, which is a directory of hardware products approved by Microsoft to work with Windows NT. This list is posted on Microsoft's web site, located at www.microsoft.com, and is used by NT administrators as a guide to determine whether or not a hardware product is NT-compatible.
SuperFlex 3000 With DGR Addresses Unique Storage Requirements of NT Market
Unlike NetWare servers, which are traditionally used for file and print services, NT servers are increasingly used as platforms for more mission-critical applications, including midrange application servers, database servers, video servers, and Internet/Intranet web servers.
"Windows NT servers require high availability, scaleability, flexibility, and manageability," said Robert Cox, product marketing manager at Storage Dimensions. "SuperFlex 3000 with DGR addresses the unique storage requirements of the Windows NT storage market by providing a high-availability enclosure with hot-swappable redundant components; a DGR capability that allows administrators to add capacity and change RAID levels on the fly; and comprehensive management software that simplifies installation and maintenance."
Consistent with its NT server storage strategy announced last April, Storage Dimensions is currently seeking NT certification for several additional Storage Dimensions products, including SuperFlex 5000. SuperFlex 5000 utilizes dual redundant RAID controllers for increased availability.
