Siliconix and Santa Clara Fire Department to Stage Joint Drills

SANTA CLARA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 17, 1996--TEMIC Semiconductors member Siliconix plans tomorrow to undertake a major exercise with the Santa Clara Fire Department.

A staged "chemical spill" will be used to test the Company's ability to quickly handle this type of incident, including prevention of harmful chemicals going down the storm drain.

Only four Santa Clara companies are selected each year by the Fire Department for this type of exercise.

The joint drill scheduled for Wednesday morning, Dec. 18, will involve three engine companies, one truck company, an incident command vehicle, and a Hazardous Materials team from the Santa Clara Fire Department, each of which will respond from their respective stations when the event begins.

Members of the press are invited to attend the drill exercises between 9:00 and 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday morning at the Siliconix plant, located in Santa Clara near the intersection of the 101 Freeway and the Montague Expressway.
