Ambrex Appoints Former Anglo American Executive to Board

Business Wire, Dec 17, 1996

TORONTO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 17, 1996--AMBREX CORP. (CDN AMBX ) Ambrex Mining Corporation is pleased to announce the appointment of Alan Bruce McKerron, formerly Executive Director of Anglo American Corporation of South Africa, to the Ambrex Board of Directors.

Mr. McKerron spent his career with Anglo American, retiring as Executive Director in 1996. For 23 years he was Chairman of Anglo's New Mining Business Division. Mr. McKerron actively consults on international mining matters with clients in Australia, Canada and South Africa.

Ambrex expects that its gold and base-metal exploration activities in Brazil will greatly benefit from Mr. McKerron's advice and involvement.

Ambrex's most advanced property in Brazil, the Aripuana property, hosts a Volcanogenic Massive Sulphide (VMS) orebody discovered during drilling earlier this year with grades of up to 13.3 percent zinc across 9 meters and 5 percent copper and 1.63 grams per tonne gold across 5.8 meters. Ambrex is also exploring its priority gold property, the Trairao project, near Alta Floresta. Early results from the Trairao exploration program have confirmed a gold-in-soils anomaly 650 meters long and open in both directions.

Ambrex is an exploration and development company specializing in mineral exploration in Brazil. The Company's shares trade on the Canadian Dealing Network (CND) under the symbol AMBX. -0- This release is available on the Internet at http://www.cdn-news.com
