Advanced Computer Communications a top performer in Tolly FRAD study; Colorado and Amazon excel under rigorous testing by The Tolly Group
Business Wire, Dec 23, 1996
SANTA BARBARA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 23, 1996--Advanced Computer Communications (ACC), a leading provider of network access solutions for the home, office, and enterprise, Monday announced results for its Amazon and Colorado as measured in The Tolly Group's recent frame relay access device (FRAD) evaluation.
The features evaluated in the FRAD test included single protocol throughput, multi-protocol prioritization, congestion response, and compression.
Results indicate that ACC's Colorado and Amazon products placed high among the top performers. The Colorado and Amazon demonstrated effective bandwidth control by throttling back the data rate during periods of congestion and resuming back to normal data rates following congestion. Tests also indicate that ACC FRADs performed well in the measurement of data throughput using compression.
ACC FRADs topped the results of IP and SNA batch file transfer tests. Due to ACC's Express Queuing and Priority Scheme, the company's products kept well within expected SNA response time quotas.
"Frame Relay offers powerful techniques for both reducing costs and managing network traffic, but it brings many challenges. FRAD vendors meet these challenges in a myriad of different ways," said Kevin Tolly, president and CEO of the Tolly Group. "The Tolly Group's 1996 Industry Study of FRADs shows product differences and provides network managers with the comprehensive data required to make purchasing decisions."
