CHC Helicopter Corporation reports legal proceeding

ST. JOHN'S, Newfoundland--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 6, 1996--CHC Helicopter Corporation (CHC)(TSE:FLY.A and FLY.B; NASDAQ:FLYAF) today announced that its UK subsidiary Brintel Helicopters Limited is the subject of a legal proceeding between the UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) and one of its competitors.

The competitor has launched a challenge of the CAA's 1993 ruling that Brintel is in compliance with British and European licensing regulations with respect to nationality. This same competitor has also complained to the European Union Transport Commission.

Management believes that it was and continues to be in full compliance with all appropriate British and European licensing requirements.

CHC Helicopter Corporation, through its subsidiary companies, provides helicopter transportation and aviation repair and overhaul services on a worldwide basis. The company operates in excess of 200 light, medium and heavy helicopters across Canada and around the world, with 1600 employees.
