LaserSight Appoints Peter McDonnell, M.D. Director of Medical Affairs

(NASDAQ:LASE) announced today that Peter McDonnell, M.D. has been appointed Director of Medical Affairs.
Dr. McDonnell, Professor of Ophthalmology, Doheny Eye Institute, University of Southern California, is an internationally renowned expert in photorefractive keratectomy (PRK). Dr. McDonnell is Director of the Refractive Surgery Center at the Doheny Eye Institute, a principal investigator for the VISX excimer laser, and author of numerous scientific articles on PRK.
"This affiliation represents a unique cooperation between industry and academia in the area of refractive surgery," said Dr. McDonnell. "This collaboration will facilitate the transfer of new surgical and medical therapies from the laboratory to the clinic. I want to lead the studies of the promising photopolishing technology offered by the scanning delivery system developed by LaserSight for the Mini-Excimer and solid-state LaserHarmonic."
