IDC's Telecommunications Group Hires Key Consulting Director in Preparation for Competitive Telecommunications Market Growth
Business Wire, Feb 11, 1996
FRAMINGHAM, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 12, 1996-- International Data Corporation (IDC) today announced it hired H. Paris Burstyn to drive the development of its worldwide telecommunications consulting practice. As director of telecommunications consulting, Burstyn will be responsible for managing business development and client engagements to expand IDC's opportunities in telecommunications consulting.
Encompassing residential broadband, wireless communications, advanced business networking, and Internet commerce, the IDC Telecommunications Group doubled in size in 1995. With offices in New York, Boston, Austin, Texas and Amsterdam, the IDC Telecommunications Group is an established source of expertise, market research, and strategic planning on the world's telecommunications markets. Burstyn will be based at IDC corporate headquarters in Framingham, Mass.
For Burstyn, "The historic Telecommunications Act of 1996, the deregulation of European telecommunications markets in 1998, and the growing demand for broadband network services, combined with the global scope and deep resources of IDC, offers an unprecedented opportunity to make a significant mark on the $700 billion global telecommunications industry."
Prior to joining IDC, Burstyn served as managing consultant in the communications and electronics practice of EDS Management Consulting, senior consultant of GeoPartners Research, and vice president of telecommunications research and consulting for Cahners Publishing's Business Research Group. His areas of expertise include business case development for carriers entering emerging markets, local exchange carrier entry strategies for long distance businesses, and opportunities for emerging intelligent networks.
Mark Winther, IDC vice president of worldwide telecommunications, said, "With more than 15 years of writing, analyzing and consulting on the telecommunications industry, Burstyn brings the talent needed to launch IDC into a leading position in the explosive global market for telecommunications services and applications."
