Fulcrum Partners With PC DOCS To Deliver Robust Information-Retrieval Solution To PC DOCS Customers; Prototype Of Fulcrum Plug-In For DOCS Open To Be Demonstrated At DOCSummit '96
Business Wire, Feb 12, 1996
ORLANDO, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 12, 1996--FULCRUM TECHNOLOGIES(NASDAQ: FULCF TSE: FUL NASDAQ: DOCSF TSE: DXX )
Fulcrum Technologies Inc., and PC DOCS Group International Inc. today announced a strategic alliance between Fulcrum(r) and PC DOCS, Inc. to deliver a Fulcrum-based information-retrieval solution that will be fully integrated with PC DOCS' flagship product, DOCS Open(r). PC DOCS, Inc., a subsidiary of PC DOCS Group International, is the leading provider of Enterprise Document Management Systems, and Fulcrum is the leading provider of information-retrieval software for the client/server market. Fulcrum will be at DOCSummit '96, from February 11 to 14, to demonstrate a prototype of a plug-in Fulcrum product for DOCS Open, and solicit feedback and input from PC DOCS customers.
"Fulcrum has earned an excellent reputation for robust software," said Larry Bohn, executive vice president and general manager at PC DOCS, Inc. "This partnership will give our customers access to Fulcrum's SearchServer(tm) software, so that they can take advantage of a full-featured information-retrieval solution built with proven, market-leading software. By working closely with Fulcrum, we fulfill our commitment to our customers to provide them with best-of-breed options to meet their information-retrieval needs, which we believe is strategic in this information-rich age."
"This partnership is another feather in Fulcrum's cap, but it is particularly strategic for PC DOCS," said Carl Frappaolo, executive vice president at Delphi Consulting. "As document management becomes a more mature industry, vendors will have to provide their customers access to a richer array of searching technologies. Fulcrum clearly plans to deliver added value to PC DOCS' customers, and so it looks like a perfect fit."
"PC DOCS is the leader because it provides powerful document management software that is easy to use and easy to deploy," said Mike Laginski, Fulcrum's chief operating officer. "We follow the same model, of providing the most powerful software and making it easy and intuitive to use. We think that PC DOCS' customers will appreciate the fit. From Fulcrum's perspective, this is another way we achieve our vision of 'bridging the islands of information' in an enterprise. Because our PC DOCS solution will be built on SearchServer, it will be compatible with custom SearchServer applications deployed elsewhere in an organization. It will also have the rich searching functionality Fulcrum customers have come to expect."
About Fulcrum's products - At the core of Fulcrum's product family is Fulcrum SearchServer, robust, multi-platform indexing and retrieval software for the enterprise. While invisible to the end user, compliance with de facto standards, like Structured Query Language (SQL) and Microsoft Open Database Connectivity (ODBC), means that SearchServer can be employed in information-retrieval applications that combine seamlessly with customers' existing information systems. For PC DOCS customers, compliance with these standards means that Fulcrum can be used with most of the standard databases that they are now using. As companion products, Fulcrum provides Fulcrum Surfboard(tm), a product customized for search-enabling web sites, and SearchBuilder(tm) toolkits.
