NECX Direct offers 'Three-Click' ordering; Internet computer-products superstore streamlines ordering process; Adds order checking, revision and confirmation

Business Wire,  Feb 13, 1996

PEABODY, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 13, 1996--NECX Direct, a division of NECX, today announced that it has streamlined the ordering process of its Internet-based computer-products superstore, also named NECX Direct, to the point where customers may now place orders with just three clicks of a pointing device.

NECX Direct has also made it easier to doublecheck, revise and confirm orders.

"Web retailing is a new phenomenon, and we want to make it as easy as possible for customers to shop in our store," said Scott Randall, general manager of NECX Direct. "By implementing suggestions we've received from our customers, we've been able to create the easiest electronic ordering mechanism available today. And our confirmation capability helps reassure customers that they've actually ordered the products they intended to purchase."

How It Works

NECX Direct offers more than 20,000 products from 1,000-plus vendors. When a customer locates a product he or she wishes to purchase, the customer simply clicks on the button that adds the product to a virtual shopping cart. NECX Direct automatically creates a shopping list that shows the product name, quantity, manufacturer, NECX Direct part number, cost and sales tax, if applicable. The customer may choose to revise the order or place it as it stands. When an order is placed, NECX Direct automatically generates a confirmation -- including a confirmation number for future reference -- and prompts the customer to give final approval to the order or to back up a step to revise it.

The NECX Direct Superstore

NECX Direct, located on the Internet at http://www.necx.com, provides a convenient and secure way for people who purchase computers, peripherals and supplies to research and order competitively priced products from the desktop. NECX Direct offers low prices, next-day delivery, instant customer assistance, readily available product information and flexible payment options.
