Security Dynamics updates flagship ACE/Server network security software; ACE/Server v2.1 now offers additional TACACS support and increased OS flexibility
Business Wire, Feb 14, 1996
CAMBRIDGE, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 14, 1996 -- Security Dynamics Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq: SDTI), a leading provider of computer and network security solutions, today announced version 2.1 of its ACE/Server network security software product. ACE/Server software provides network managers with scalable performance to support the authentication needs of enterprise users, and simplified and seamless integration of security management with corporate information systems. ACE/Server v2.1 software offers TACACS (Terminal Access Controller Access System) and Extended TACACS support, making it easier for mobile users to securely dial-in to the corporate network.
"This new release of ACE/Server software addresses the demands of enterprise networks deploying TACACS as a network standard," said Eric Ogren, product manager at Security Dynamics. "ACE/Server's scalability and advanced user interface are ideally suited for TACACS networks."
ACE/Server v2.1 software features include:
Support for additional TACACS functionality ACE/Server version 2.1 software now supports users of the enhanced TACACS and Extended TACACS capabilities, Cisco's authentication service standards. Compatibility with these network security protocols allows network managers to complement existing TACACS authorization and auditing features with the SecurID and ACE/Server two-factor, one-time authentication technologies.
Support for more OS configurations
Version 2.1 of ACE/Server software now supports the majority of UNIX-based operating systems, including SunOS v4.1.3, Solaris v2.4, HP-UX v10.0 and AIX v4.1.4, providing a true enterprise network security solution.
ACE/Server software is used in conjunction with Security Dynamics' SecurID token, to provide network users with a level of user authentication significantly more secure than the reusable password. The SecurID token provides dynamic, two-factor authentication that combines something the user knows -- a memorized personal identification number (PIN) -- with something the user possesses -- a randomly generated access code that changes every 60 seconds. To access a protected network, a user enters his or her secret PIN followed by the current code displayed on the SecurID token's LCD. This information represents a one-time passcode and is transmitted to the ACE/Server software for verification. This implementation of two-factor authentication provides a high level of security for networks while affording maximum user convenience and cost effectiveness. ACE/Server software centrally manages and administers user profiles and maintains a comprehensive audit trail that records all access attempts.
Pricing and Availability
ACE/Server v2.1 network security software is currently available for a wide range of enterprise network security applications -- pricing begins at $2,450; SecurID token pricing starts at $34.
