Business Wire, Feb 20, 1996

BEAVERTON, Ore.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 20, 1996--Adaptive Solutions(R) (NASDAQ:ADSO) today announced that the Associated Press (AP) has added the award-winning PowerShop(TM) accelerator board to its digital camera product line, helping member publications speed up photo image processing.

Under the agreement, the Associated Press will purchase and distribute a version of PowerShop tailored for the AP NC 2000 and NC 2000e digital cameras. The AP version of PowerShop has all the standard attributes, but also includes special custom filters to enhance image quality.

During Super Bowl XXX, AP processed all of the photographs taken using PowerShop and custom filters developed for use exclusively in the news environment. "PowerShop allowed us to dramatically speed up the image processing time and enhance the quality of our Super Bowl report," said Jim Gerberich of the AP. "The PowerShop filters allow us to provide a new level of quality from digital images eliminating the need for film."

"We are delighted that the organization that brings the images of the world to news agencies has teamed up with Adaptive Solutions to do that task more effectively," stated Bob Anundson, vice president and general manager, Prepress for Adaptive Solutions. "In an industry where time is critical, PowerShop allows the Associated Press to score under critical deadlines."

PowerShop, a 1995 MacUser Eddy Award Winner, accelerates Photoshop functions by factors of up to 2,000 percent over the fastest Macintosh systems, delivering unmatched speed increases to computation-intensive tasks such as unsharp mask, rotate, color transformations, Gaussian blur and many others.
