FEATURE/Eurobus launches new Great Britain pass; one-month travel passes are $145 for adults
Business Wire, Feb 26, 1996
--(BUSINESS WIRE FEATURES)--Feb. 26, 1996--Eurobus, the motor coach service that links 23 cities in 12 European nations, says it is expanding service April 1 with a new Great Britain Pass offering unlimited travel throughout England, Scotland and Wales.
"We cover continental Europe quite well, but the biggest noise we've heard is from travelers wanting to hop around the British Isles the same way they do on Eurobus," said Eurobus founder Max Thomas.
"The Great Britain Pass adds a new dimension to Eurobus -- broadening the scope of what we can offer travelers to Europe -- and further increasing our ability to compete favorably with Eurail," he said.
Great Britain Passes are $145 for one month of unlimited travel; $160 for three months. Youth passes for travelers age 26 or under are $110 for one month and $125 for three months.
By comparison, a one-month second-class Britrail Pass is $545 for adults and $435 for students.
Unlimited travel means that passengers can hop on or off the route at any scheduled stop for as long as they wish, picking up the next coach which rolls through.
"We take in 11 of the most popular destinations in the British Isles -- locales popular with travelers for their beauty, history and surrounding areas of interest," said Thomas.
Coach stops in England include London, Windsor, Bath, Cambridge, York and the Lake District. Eurobus stops in Cardiff as it travels through Wales, and includes Glasgow, Loch Lomond, Stirling and Edinburgh on its Scottish itinerary.
Eurobus uses modern Volvo motor coaches. Buses have toilets onboard and show movies and a selection of travel videos while enroute. Each driver is a tour guide trained to give commentary on local history and sights. The buses stop at a conveniently-located hostel or budget hotel instead of bus stations.
Eurobus coaches depart each Britstop every two days, and passengers may travel the circuit as often as they like during the life of the pass.
Great Britain Passes are 10 percent off when purchased along with a Eurobus continental pass. The Eurobus continental pass services 23 cities in 12 European nations with a pass system similar to Eurail.
