Business Wire, Feb 26, 1996

SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 26, 1996--Starting this month, Pacific Bell customers in the San Jose area will gain two new places to pay telephone bills in person.

"Although we recommend customers mail their payments to us or use our free Pay-By-Phone or Automatic Payment services, some customers still prefer to pay in person," said Jo McElroy, Pacific Bell's Public Office Area Manager. "Our new authorized payment locations will mean more convenience for our walk-in patrons." -0- The two new locations are:

Money Market Check Cashing 314 East Santa Clara Street, San Jose Monday - Friday, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Cash Mart 259 Race Street, San Jose Monday - Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. -0-

McElroy said the two new locations will replace Pacific Bell's Public Office located at 31 North Market Street in downtown San Jose, which will be consolidated with the company's Public Office on South White Road starting March 1. Pacific Bell's Deaf and Disabled Services Group plans to open a new service center at 31 North Market Street later this year which will serve deaf and disabled customers. The company's three employees now at 31 North Market Street will move to jobs at the South White Road location.

Both new payment locations will be able to perform virtually all of the functions of the Public Offices, including accepting payments and deposits, and offering customers a direct line to service representatives.

Pacific Bell is a subsidiary of Pacific Telesis Group, a diversified telecommunications corporation based in San Francisco.
