Lawson Software delivers client/server cost management solutions to 8 major healthcare organizations; Lawson fiscal year-to-date revenue growth in healthcare exceeds 100 percent
Business Wire, Feb 5, 1996
MINNEAPOLIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 5, 1996--Lawson Software, a leading provider of client/server cost management solutions for healthcare organizations, today announced that eight major healthcare providers have recently selected Lawson's integrated solutions to analyze and control their costs more effectively. Overall, the company's healthcare initiative, in which Lawson is tailoring its business applications to the needs of healthcare providers, specifically multi-unit providers or Integrated Delivery Networks (IDNs), has surpassed its revenue projections by a wide margin, growing more than 100% in the current fiscal year over the same period last year.
"Lawson is continuing to expand the depth and breadth of our cost management solutions," said Ann Claridge, director of industry marketing at Lawson Software, "ensuring these providers maximum competitive effectiveness in managing operations and negotiating contracts." Lawson's integrated applications allow analysis of costs to the procedure or patient level, which is a key benefit in changing to a system of capitated payments for patient care.
Lawson designed its solutions to manage the dynamic changes of the healthcare industry and to utilize the power of desktop integration, workflow, EDI and distributed computing capabilities. As a result, Lawson added eight new healthcare clients during the months of November and December, 1995. Each new client chose Lawson over several competing vendors after reviewing their products, services and technology directions.
According to Jim Smoker, director of materials management at York Health System, "As we were emerging from a collection of health centers to become an integrated delivery system, our goal was to find integrated materials and financial applications that would tie financial and acquisition transaction processing across all the entities. Lawson met that goal with its integrated solution, and will also greatly improve our tracking capabilities by providing easy access to information on current stock, usage history and locations of inventoried or expensed items in the hospital and throughout the system."
Continued Smoker, "We look to the Lawson systems not only to improve transaction processing, but also to provide linkages to clinical information and scheduling systems. These linkages will position York to better plan product requirements and product standardization opportunities across our health system entities."
Another new client, Peninsula Regional Medical Center of Salisbury, Md., will use Lawson's integrated financial and materials management solution to analyze and manage costs effectively throughout their diverse network of primary-care physician offices, diagnostic centers, medical center and home care operations.
"Peninsula Regional underwent a comprehensive review of the major materials management and financial vendors, and Lawson Software exceeded the competition in nearly every area of the evaluation," said Ray Shingler, chief information officer at Peninsula Regional Medical Center. "The ease and accessibility of data via Lawson's Drill AroundT feature and report writing will put information access at an all-time high."
The following other healthcare organizations also purchased Lawson's financial, human resources and materials management applications: VHA, Inc., Irving, Tx. Advantage Healthcare Corp., Woburn, Mass. Private Healthcare Systems, Waltham, Mass. HILLCO, Ltd., Kinston, N.C. Wyandotte General Hospital, Wyandotte, Mich. Kids Peace White Lion, Orefield, Penn.
