Alternative Dispute Resolution Certificate Program Offered By UCSC Extension in Silicon Valley

SANTA CLARA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 11, 1996-- A skills package is offered as part of University of California Santa Cruz Extension's new Alternative Dispute Resolution Certificate Program.

Courses in alternative dispute resolution survey, arbitration, mediation and negotiation provide a comprehensive review of dispute resolution techniques and applications.

Other program courses address specific issues in ethics, diversity and money that can complicate effective dispute resolution. The skills package provides training in areas that are fundamental to being an effective dispute resolution professional such as listening skills and dealing with difficult people.

The certificate is designed to serve the needs of the alternative dispute resolution professional as well as professionals who deal with diverse groups including human resource managers, teachers, counselors and attorneys.

Courses offered this winter quarter include "Mediation: A Means to Solution" and "Ethical Issues in Dispute Resolution," both providing MCLE credit.

UCSC Extension's certificate programs are a series of core courses and electives. Courses can be taken individually as well as part of the certificate program.
