Nabisco Acquires Gumz In Brazil

PARSIPPANY, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--January 11, 1996--Nabisco Holdings Corp. (NYSE:NA) announced today that Nabisco, Inc. has acquired Gumz Alimentos F.A. Industria e Comircia, a leading Brazilian dairy company headquartered in Jaragua do Sul, Santa Catarina.

Terms of the transaction were not disclosed. Gumz has the leading market share of chocolate-flavored milk (Chocoleite) in its home states of Santa Catarina and Parana. The company also produces Sant' Ana milk and milk-based products. Sales totaled $24 million in 1994.

This acquisition is synergistic with our existing business in Brazil where we are the long-time manufacturer and marketer of Gloria milk products and have recently added Avare, a leading Brazilian dairy company, to our portfolio, said H.
