Pulse announces new business group
Business Wire, Jan 16, 1996
SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 16, 1996--Pulse recently announced the formation of Video Delivery, a new business group focused on establishing strategic relationships with companies developing technologies for delivery of high-speed video and data to the home and office.
Pulse is noted for developing and manufacturing a wide variety of passive components for use in telecom, datacom and power conversion applications.
The formation of the new business group will capitalize on the company's expertise in passive component technology as it applies to the new high-bandwidth services that are being considered by the telecommunications industry and cable companies around the world.
"Video Delivery will be looking at ways we can partner with some of the key players in the move toward video-on-demand and expanded data delivery over existing phone or cable lines," explained John Kowalski, president of Pulse. "We believe this is an area with a tremendous growth potential."
Kowalski pointed out that the formation of the Video Delivery group positions Pulse as a leader in magnetic products for emerging digital telecom and networking technologies.
"This is not a `blue sky' project. We plan on investing key personnel and resources toward this effort," Kowalski pointed out.
Kowalski noted that as one of the largest designers and manufacturers of passive components in the world, Pulse is well positioned to offer the large-scale design and manufacturing capability that will be required as new technologies are implemented on a broader scale.
Pulse, with headquarters in San Diego, has a reputation for design excellence with manufacturing facilities in the Far East, United States and Ireland. The new company resulted from the merger of Fil-Mag into Pulse Engineering following its acquisition by Fil-Mag's parent company, Technitrol.
The merger brought together Pulse's engineering design capabilities with Fil-Mag's noted manufacturing expertise. Pulse now carries a complete line of passive components for use in power, telecom and datacom applications, and designs and manufactures passive components for many different OEMs throughout the world. Pulse's WWW site is located at http://www.pulseeng.com.
