Braun AG and Braun bring action against Remington Products for patent infringement

Business Wire, Jan 16, 1996

LYNNFIELD, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 16, 1996--Braun today announced that it has filed an action in the United States District Court in Boston against the Remington Products Co. for patent infringement.

The patent involved covers the technology of Braun's unique Supervolume body-enhancing hair styler. The complaint, filed on Jan. 16, 1996, seeks to enjoin Remington from infringing Braun's U.S. Patent No. 5,457,894 and demands unspecified monetary damages.

Braun recently settled an infringement suit it had brought against Conair Corp. on the same patent. As a result of that settlement, Conair agreed to respect the patent, redesigned its product and entered into a consent judgment prohibiting future infringement.

"As we have demonstrated before, Braun will take steps to stop others from infringing upon its patented technology," said A. Bruce Cleverly, president of Braun Inc. "We position ourself to protect our own investments in research and the exclusivity we can offer our customers through patented advances in consumer products."

Braun AG, based in Germany and a subsidiary of The Gillette Co. since 1967, manufactures a high-quality, European-designed line of electric shavers, household, oral care and hair care products that are distributed throughout the world. Braun Inc., an affiliate of Braun AG, is headquartered in Lynnfield, Mass.
