Business Wire, Jan 17, 1996
LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 17, 1996--The Energy Management Services (EMS) business unit of Pacific Enterprises, the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (DWP) and Southern California Gas Co. (SoCalGas) have agreed to form the ``Energy Alliance'' to develop and implement integrated energy management services for potential customers within the DWP service territory.
The first such potential customers include the University of Southern California and the Playa Vista project, a residential and commercial real estate development proposed for west Los Angeles.
The objective of the Energy Alliance is to provide a comprehensive set of innovative energy management solutions to customers. The Energy Alliance will optimize the best capabilities of each of its members to create a synergy that will yield energy solutions for customers superior to independent efforts.
EMS will be the lead organization in the development of energy management services proposals. EMS and SoCalGas are subsidiaries of Los Angeles-based Pacific Enterprises, a diversified energy services and utility holding company.
Within EMS is Central Plants Inc., which provides district heating and cooling services to commercial customers in the Los Angeles area. EMS also has more than 180 megawatts of electric generation facilities, including alternative electric generation.
SoCalGas is the nation's largest natural gas distributor, serving more than 4.8 million customers throughout Southern California.
LADWP is the nation's largest municipal electric utility, providing electricity services to more than 1.3 million residential, commercial and industrial customers in the city of Los Angeles. The utility serves both the USC campus and the Playa Vista community.
