Nabisco acquires Venezuelan biscuit company

PARSIPPANY, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 19, 1996--Nabisco Holdings Corp. (NYSE:NA) announced today that Nabisco, Inc., has acquired all the assets and trademarks of Galletera Tejerias, S.A., near Caracas, Venezuela.

Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Founded in 1970, Tejerias is a leading manufacturer of plain and sweet biscuits and soda crackers. The company had sales of $10 million in 1995 and holds a six percent share of the Venezuelan biscuit market.

Nabisco's acquisition of Tejerias will increase its already significant share of the Venezuelan biscuit market. Nabisco's brands in Venezuela include Oreo, Hony Bran, Kraker Bran and Club Social. The company also produces Del Monte canned fruits and vegetables, Royal dessert mixes and Life Savers candies in that country.
