Business Wire, Jan 24, 1996

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 24, 1996--The executive board of Lufthansa Cargo AG has announced the restructuring of its global sales organization as part of a strategic realignment of the carrier's cargo operation.

At the same time, the airline is establishing two liaison offices to consolidate and further develop existing alliances for the purpose of expanding its global presence.

On Jan. 1, Lufthansa Cargo's sales structure split into two distinct units -- Intercontinental and European sales. Intercontinental sales, which includes the Asia/Pacific and Americas regions, is being managed by Erwin Obladen, formerly Area Manager for Asia/Pacific. The second unit, which encompasses all European sales including Germany, the company's home market, is headed by Joachim Haas, previously in charge of area management for Europe. At the same time, Joachim Steinbach, former vice president cargo, Canada, has been named the new cargo vice president for Germany, reporting directly to the European sales unit. All three positions are based in Frankfurt, Germany.

Recognizing the importance that strategic alliances have on the expansion of its worldwide presence, Lufthansa Cargo has named Gernot Huebl, vice president cargo alliances for the Americas. He had served as senior vice president of the cargo carrier's Americas division since May 1994.

Huebl now oversees Lufthansa's cargo alliances, and will develop the company's intra-American market. Separately, Georg Midunsky has been named to head Lufthansa's cargo alliance with Thai Airways based in Bangkok. Previously, he served as cargo area manager for Germany. -0-
