Fritz Companies Inc. Announces ISO 9001 Quality Certification; JFK International Airport Operations Accredited with Highest ISO Rating

Business Wire, Jan 29, 1996

Inc. is pleased to announce their operations at New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport have received ISO 9001 accreditation.

The ISO assessment, certification and registration were performed by the highly acclaimed British Standards Institution Quality Assurance.

ISO 9000 is a management system standard that emphasizes accountability, proactivity, customer satisfaction and recurring evaluation. The ISO 9000 series has three levels of standards with 9001 being the most stringent.

Fritz Companies, Inc. is the first air freight forwarder to receive such certification at JFK. The scope of registration includes the provision of project logistics management service for national and international accounts; the provision of a worldwide air freight forwarding service with verification of service up to departure from the U.S.; the provision of air inbound deconsolidation and document handling services and air and ocean freight customs brokerage.

ISO 9001 includes requirements for design of a product or service. Fritz JFK's ISO 9001 certification recognizes that the Fritz implementation process, by which services are customized to meet specific client requirements, conforms to the stringent ISO 9001 design control requirements.

Frank Scott, Fritz Assistant Director of Quality and Training, says, "An increasing number of companies aspire to become ISO 9000 companies, including many of Fritz's clients. Quality companies demand that their vendors and suppliers are also best of class. More than ever, client requirements demand high quality in both service and accountability, and an ISO 9000 certification guarantees that Fritz not only delivers superior quality but maintains internal measurements as well that ensure continuous improvement."

Lynn Fritz, President and CEO of Fritz Companies, Inc., says, "We intend to initiate the ISO 9000 certification process in multiple Fritz locations in the upcoming year. JFK was probably the most difficult location we could select for a quality beta test, so we will enthusiastically take the quality model developed at JFK and implement it throughout Fritz's national network of offices."
