Now Software announces synchronization software for U.S. robotics handheld and now up-to-date; Now Synchronize™ keeps contacts and schedules on the Pilot™ connected organizer synchronized with Now Up-to-Date™ on Windows and Mac-based PCs

Business Wire, Jan 29, 1996

PORTLAND, Ore.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 29, 1996--Now Software, the leading time management software developer for Windows(R) and Macintosh(R) computers worldwide, today announced a version of its desktop synchronization software, Now Synchronize, that will support the new Pilot connected organizer from the Palm Computing Division of U.S. Robotics.

The new product will provide the ability to share the same calendar and address book between Pilot and Now Up-to-Date -- providing the best way to take Now Up-to-Date information on the road.

"Pilot is a breakthrough technology that allows Now Up-to-Date users to carry their schedule and address book in their pockets and provides one-button access to an entire workgroup," said Duane Schulz, CEO of Now Software. "Now Synchronize for U.S. Robotics' Pilot is an exciting step forward in Now's vision of providing quick access to time and people anytime, anywhere."

Now Synchronize compares calendar and contact entries by date and time and ensures that the latest information and changes appear both on Pilot and in Now Up-to-Date on the personal computer. To synchronize, the user simply places the Pilot device in its cradle and presses the HotSync button. Synchronization moves new data and modifications between Pilot and the user's desktop and, after synchronizing, the same calendar and contact information resides both on Pilot and in Now Up-to-Date.

"With Pilot, Now Up-to-Date users have the ability to take all their desktop information with them in their pockets," said Donna Dubinsky, general manager of the Palm Computing Division of U.S. Robotics. "It's as simple as the push of a button to keep your desktop calendar and mobile calendar in sync."

Developed with portability and desktop synchronization in mind, the Pilot organizer features a breakthrough design, real-time speed, and a range of information-management tools including a calendar and address book, and is small and light enough to fit in a shirt pocket.
