Finnet Group Installs HP SS7 Monitoring System to Manage Nationwide And International Telecom Business
Business Wire, Jan 29, 1996
PALO ALTO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 29, 1996--Finnet Group, a consortium of Finnish private telecommunications network operators, today announced that it will begin installation of Hewlett-Packard Company's SS7 network monitoring system in Helsinki, Finland, and Tampere, Finland, in early 1996. The contract was signed on Oct. 6, 1995.
"We aim to provide the highest possible quality of service to our customers and to achieve the optimized balance of network performance," said Markku Manninen, operation manager of network management at Helsinki Telephone Company Ltd., one of the consortium members. "We are developing our network management systems to meet all requirements focusing on customer service.
"The HP acceSS7 system will help us monitor our network and launch new networkwide services reliably, quickly and efficiently," he said. "We selected the HP monitoring system because of its broad functionality and because HP could supply an already working solution for our business purposes."
The first two phases of the 1996 HP acceSS7 system installation will include the major part of Finnet Group's nationwide network, covering several hundred signalling links. The third phase, due to be completed in 1997, will cover the rest of the network.
The HP E4250A acceSS7 system monitors SS7 traffic and link status, gathers traffic statistics, analyzes SS7 protocols and provides call trace and alarm reporting. The user interface communicates instantaneously the status of the SS7 network in multidimensional "radar-diagram" displays that complement real-time data acquisition across the network.
