Business Wire, Jan 30, 1996
BROOKFIELD, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 30, 1996--Memry Corp. (MRMY-NASD OTC Bulletin Board), of Brookfield, today announced it is the exclusive supplier to Nicklaus Golf Equipment of West Palm Beach, Fla. of components to be used in a new line of wedges and a putter, trade named the IQ(R) Insert line from Nicklaus Golf.
The wedges and putter incorporate proprietary shape memory alloys exclusively supplied by Memry Corp.
Sports Futures Inc., a sports industry technology and product development firm which has an exclusive license from Memry Corp. for its technology as applied to the golfing industry, has granted an exclusive license to Nicklaus Golf for the use of Memry's patented technology in wedges and irons. Sports Futures Inc. has worked with both parties in developing this application.
According to James Binch, president and CEO of Memry Corp., this represents a major breakthrough in the commercialization of high volume shape memory alloy usage, particularly since the properties of the ZeeMet(R) alloy significantly outperformed titanium, widely used in golf clubs today. Robert Kelly, chief executive officer of Nicklaus Golf Equipment unveiled the new line to attendees at the 1996 PGA Merchandise Show this past weekend in Orlando, Fla. For more information, contact Binch at Memry Corp, 203/740-7311 or Nicklaus Golf Equipment at 1/800-322-1872.
