Kodak Names Sallie Mae's Martin Its New Chief Information Officer

ROCHESTER, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 5, 1996--Eastman Kodak Company today named Dr. Edith W. Martin as Vice President, Information Systems, and Chief Information Officer. Prior to this, Martin was Executive Vice President and Chief Technology Officer with the Student Loan Marketing Association (Sallie Mae).

"Martin brings to Kodak a proven ability to use information technology as a strategic tool to help management meet business objectives."

Martin will report to Kavetas at Kodak.

At Sallie Mae, Martin was responsible for all information technology operations, development of new businesses' initiatives, and oversight of several subsidiaries. Prior to that, Martin was Vice President and Chief Information Officer for the International Telecommunications Satellite Organization (INTELSAT) where she successfully led a global effort to upgrade INTELSAT's satellite launch and control facilities.

Martin also served as a Vice President for the Boeing Company where she established and subsequently directed the Boeing High Technology Center. She also served as Deputy Under Secretary, Research and Advanced Technology, Department of Defense, directing the 73 laboratories in the Science and Technology Program; Executive Director, Government Systems Division, Control Data Corp.; and as Director, Computer Science and Technology Laboratory, Georgia Institute of Technology, a facility she established.

Martin received the First Susan B. Anthony Award for Leadership in Industry in 1987 and the Distinguished Public Service Medal -- the highest Civilian honor -- in 1984. She is a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers and a member of numerous professional societies and corporate boards.

Martin graduated from Lake Forest College with a B.A. in Experimental Psychology and Georgia Institute of Technology where she received both a M.S. and Ph.D. in Information and Computer Science.
