New Mac-compatible PC cards are "Apple" of EPSON's eye; EPSON's PCMCIA "Mac Cards" provide mobile solution to Apple PowerBook users
Business Wire, Jan 8, 1996
TORRANCE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 8, 1996--EPSON, a premier provider of cross platform mobile computing solutions, Monday launched the EPSON Mac Card Family, a group of PCMCIA card hard drives and fax/modems for Apple PowerBooks.
A leader in the Macintosh mobile market, EPSON Mac Cards are compatible with Apple Macintosh PowerBooks ranging from the 500 series to the most recent introductions, the 190, 2300 and 5300 series.
"The EPSON Mac Card Family provides users with the complete mobile solution they demand, at a price point that is hard to beat," said Mark Warlick, assistant marketing manager, PCMCIA card products, EPSON.
"We also address a number of applications that are critical for Mac users. For example, our extensive line of hard disk drives provides the graphic arts market the ability to transfer large data files securely and easily."
The Mac Cards currently available through authorized retailers are:
o 14.4Kbps cellular fax/modem
o 14.4Kbps XJack fax/modem
o 14.4Kbps standard fax/modem
o 170MB hard drive
o 260MB hard drive
Earlier this month, EPSON announced two new additions to the Mac Card Family, a 28.8Kbps XJack fax/modem and a 340MB hard disk drive; both will be available in mid-January. The fax/modem cards comply with all major fax/modem specifications and include Macintosh fax software.
The Mac Card Family is covered by EPSON's "compatibility guarantee" like all EPSON cards purchased through retail channels. Under this money-back guarantee program, if an EPSON card is not 100 percent compatible with the end user's system after driver and software installation, EPSON retailers will fully refund the purchase price of the card.
Additionally, EPSON offers an exclusive Data Recovery Program (DRoP) for recapturing valuable data in case of severe damage to any hard disk drive card. With this program, users can have their data retrieved for a $69.95 service fee.
All EPSON cards are covered by EPSON's standard two-year limited warranty, with an additional year provided upon return of the registration card, and come standard with Card and Socket Services software for easy installation.
EPSON offers an extensive array of technology products including ink jet, laser and dot matrix printers, scanners, portable and desktop computers, and for the OEM market, a variety of component and electronic devices.
