AT&T Customers to Save on Calling Card Calls; 1 800 CALL ATT Assures Security, Quality and Value

BASKING RIDGE, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 10, 1996--AT&T customers will get lower prices on calling card calls in New Jersey effective July 17, and will need to dial 1 800 CALL ATT to receive them.

In New Jersey, the prices for these calls will be reduced an average of 25 percent.(a)

"This is great news for our customers, especially those who use their calling cards frequently for local toll calls," said Jack McMaster, AT&T president, Atlantic States. "Now, when they dial calls on 1 800 CALL ATT, they'll always get a better price than Bell Atlantic offers on calling card toll calls. And -- unlike the Bell Atlantic IQ card -- they'll be guaranteed that their calls will always go through on the AT&T network, so they'll never have to worry about being charged exorbitant rates by some "no-name" company."

McMaster said this change was especially important for AT&T customers who are enrolled in AT&T's savings plans, such as True Reach Savings, and loyalty plan, True Rewards.

"There's a double-benefit for our True Reach Savings members, who can earn an additional discount up to 25 percent on qualified calls, and for our True Rewards members, who can earn bonus points," said McMaster.

To ensure that AT&T customers always reach AT&T, the company has ended an agreement with Bell Atlantic that enabled customers to place calling card calls by dialing 0 the number. Now New Jersey customers will make these calls by dialing 1 800 CALL ATT. Millions of AT&T customers have already been using this as a convenient way to place calls during the past two years. Callers can also place collect and credit card calls on 1 800 CALL ATT, and reach AT&T operators and customer service representatives. -0- Note(a) Pending tariff effectiveness
