Business Wire, July 11, 1996
AMES, Iowa--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- July 11, 1996--Engineering Animation, Inc. (NASDAQ: EAII), specialists in computer visualization technologies, today announced that it will join forces with Elsevier Science to create a series of neuroscience multimedia products.
The inaugural project--The Encyclopedia of Neuroscience--is the first interactive CD-ROM that showcases today's leading-edge neuroscience research with text, 3D animations, QuickTime(TM) movies and sound.
"EAI's 3D visualization capabilities blend beautifully with Elsevier's neuroscience knowledge base," said Matt Rizai, president and CEO of EAI. "Before this groundbreaking partnership, neuroscientists could only read about high-level neuroscience research in journals; now they can see it, hear it and interact with it--in a 3D graphically-enriched environment."
The Encyclopedia of Neuroscience will be available January 1997. Additionally, EAI and Elsevier signed a letter of intent to produce a multimedia 3D brain atlas.
EAI develops, produces and sells animation products that address the visualization, animation and graphics needs of its customers. EAI offers three interrelated product lines: 3D interactive software titles on CD-ROM for both academic and consumer markets; animation software tools currently on UNIX-based workstations; and custom 3D computer-generated animations for commercial markets. EAI's animation software tools include VisLab(R), a suite of software programs that provide high-speed 3D integrated visualization solutions for CAD/CAE markets; and VisFly(TM), a high-performance engineering visualization tool that allows interactive real-time viewing of complex CAD designs.
With its technology center in Ames, Iowa, and offices in Amsterdam, Chicago, Boston, Detroit, Los Angeles, Portland and New York, EAI is a public company traded on the NASDAQ National Market under the symbol "EAII."
VisLab is a registered trademark, and VisFly is a trademark, of Engineering Animation, Inc.
