Business Wire, July 15, 1996
PLEASANTON, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 15, 1996--NETCOM On-Line Communications Services Inc. will offer the entire line of network routers from Livingston Enterprises Inc., as part of a range of customized security solutions announced today for NETCOM's Business Services Group.
Livingston's routers incorporate unique filtering and firewall technology that controls access to and from Internet services, as well as corporate local area networks. With Livingston firewall technology, businesses can provide information through Web sites and other public services while insulating the corporate network from intruders and unauthorized users.
The Livingston routers are offered as part of a spectrum of certified security solutions in the NETCOMplete for Business program that meet the specific needs of small- and medium-sized businesses. A security solution is tailored for each customer based on a needs assessment conducted by NETCOM.
Ben Slick, vice president and general manager of NETCOM's Business Services Group, said, "Other ISPs offer security products, but NETCOM is offering true security solutions. Our intent is to be a single point of contact for a superior, cost-effective security solution. Livingston routers offer our customers world-class protection when they leverage the Internet as a business tool."
Joe Sasek, Livingston vice president of sales, said: "When making a decision to implement security, there can be a lot of confusion over whether to buy a firewall packet filtering router or an application proxy server. With NETCOMplete for Business, NETCOM has clearly recognized that the Livingston FireWall router meets the needs of a large customer base and can actually complement proxy servers, thus streamlining the decision process."
