CyberMedia accepts strategic investment from Kleiner, Perkins, Caufield & Byers

SANTA MONICA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 23, 1996--CyberMedia, maker of the best-selling Microsoft Windows software product, First Aid 95, Tuesday announced the completion of a $5 million private equity offering led by Kleiner, Perkins, Caufield & Byers and including other existing investors.
The investment will give the company additional resources to fuel their rapid growth.
"The investment by Kleiner, Perkins validates our strategy to use the Internet to provide automated service and support for personal computer users," said Unni Warrier, president and CEO of CyberMedia. "Kleiner, Perkins has had great success with Internet technology companies such as Netscape. This relationship with them will help CyberMedia grow even faster."
According to PC Data's most recently published report, CyberMedia's First Aid 95 is among the nation's top five best-selling retail software products, with over 1 million copies sold. First Aid 95 is the first software product designed to automatically fix Microsoft Windows 3.1 and 95 software configuration problems to protect against general protection faults, software conflicts and optimize PC performance.
CyberMedia has made a commitment to leverage the Internet as a key component of its business strategy. First Aid 95 Deluxe is designed to update itself automatically over the Internet. CyberMedia's newest product, Oil Change, automatically updates all PC software applications via the Internet to obtain the latest updates, drivers and patches. Oil Change beta 2.0 is now available the retail version will ship in September 1996.
