2Way Media Inc. and Intel Corp. to cooperate on delivery of entertainment content and advertising
Business Wire, July 24, 1996
SANTA MONICA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 24, 1996--2Way Media Inc., the producer of LAUNCH entertainment CD-ROM and LAUNCH Online, Wednesday announced that it will work in close cooperation with Intel to develop the MMX/DVD-ROM version of the LAUNCH product and also work to provide this content through satellite and cable modems.
2Way Media creates and distributes interactive content and advertising for delivery through CD-ROM/on-line hybrid applications, as well as broadband networks.
Intel will assist 2Way Media in developing the MMX/DVD-ROM version of the existing LAUNCH product. LAUNCH on DVD-ROM will utilize the power of the MMX processor to deliver full-screen, high- quality video and digital audio. This will ensure LAUNCH's continued high-quality content while remaining linked to real-time information over the Internet.
Longer term, the companies will work together to enable the delivery of LAUNCH content and advertising directly to the consumer, using satellite delivery and cable modems.
Commenting on the announcement, Dave Goldberg, chief executive officer, 2Way Media, said: ``This signifies an important step in the realization of our goals. We are delighted to be working with Intel to provide original interactive software which enables consumers to enjoy the potential of their PCs for entertainment.''
Intel's Avram Miller, vice president, business development, added, ``Working with 2Way Media is very exciting since the company is a leader in producing interactive entertainment and advertising to be used on the PC.''
The MMX/DVD-ROM version of LAUNCH is expected to be available in early 1997 initially through the company's OEM partners Sony Electronics and Gateway 2000. 2Way Media is currently working with cable, phone and satellite companies on broadband tests.
