US ONE Communications names John Jacquay President of newly formed carrier services division

DALLAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 26, 1996--US ONE Communications Corporation, a competitive local exchange carrier (CLEC), has announced the formation of its Carrier Services Division, to be headquartered in San Francisco. John H. Jacquay has been appointed president of this unit, which will provide advanced switching and local telephone access to long distance carriers and resellers.

Passed in February of this year, the Telecommunications Act of 1996 has given US ONE the opportunity to open competition in the local exchange market and the ability to offer valuable services and benefits to its reseller and carrier customers.

US ONE will offer its carrier customers newly introduced competitive local services, and lower operating and network costs, as well as a full suite of local access and enhanced services on one integrated platform. The Carrier Services Division also will provide complete network engineering design for each customer, private software defined switching partitions, turnkey network installation, robust information system interfaces and customer service support.

"John Jacquay and his team are uniquely equipped to carry out our aggressive deployment schedule and begin offering highly competitive choices to our customers," he said.

Jacquay, 43, has more than 20 years of telecommunications industry experience. He most recently served as vice president of MCI's state government and university markets where he introduced the CampusMCI Suite of Services, which included a nationwide Internet access network for university communities. He also directed MCI's entry into the systems integration client/server services and launched the Proof Positive Campaign.

US ONE has also appointed four others to positions within the Carrier Services Division.

Kirk Bennett, 41, has been named vice president of sales for the western region. Prior to joining US ONE, he was the director of sales for MTC Telemanagement Corporation where he was responsible for sales of all telecom products/service, dealing mostly with reorigination and overseas switched based long distance services.

Bill Triplett, 46, has been named vice president, sales, southern region. He has worked for 13 years at Houston Network/Vyvx/Wiltel/World Com, most recently as vice president of traffic engineering.

Pete Toohey, 41, has been named director of customer information services. Before joining US ONE, he managed the delivery of data services for MCI's World Headquarters Campus.

Jay Bradley, 36, has been named director of marketing for the division. He comes to US ONE from MTC Telemanagement Corporation where he managed marketing and sales. Bradley previously served with MCI as a manager of national accounts.

US ONE was formed in early 1994 and its deploying switches with both local and long distance capabilities throughout the United States to offer local switching and telephone services. Its initial focus is on the wholesale market, where it provides national switching and access services to long-distance resellers and carriers.
