Daniel H. Mudd appointed president of GE Capital Services Asia-Pacific

STAMFORD, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 26, 1996--GE Capital Services today announced it has appointed Daniel H. Mudd as president of GE Capital Services Asia-Pacific, headquartered in Hong Kong.

Mudd, 37, will have responsibility for business development in the Asia-Pacific region, including operations in China, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, Korea, the Philippines, Taiwan and Australia. Mudd previously was president and chief executive officer of European Fleet Services for GE Capital, based in Brussels, Belgium.

In making the announcement, Gary C. Wendt, chairman, president and chief executive officer of GE Capital Services, said, "Dan Mudd brings a wealth of international and business development experience to this position, and his appointment is indicative of our commitment to the Asia-Pacific region." Wendt continued, "There is enormous potential for GE Capital in this region, where we have been developing a growing presence, notably in our consumer services, equipment management and specialized financing businesses. Under Dan's leadership, we are confident we will identify new opportunities for growth as we look to expand the products and services we offer, and look to enter new markets."

Mudd received a B.A. in History from the University of Virginia, and a Masters in Public Administration in economics and international affairs from Harvard University. He was an officer in the U.S. Marines and was decorated for combat service in Beirut, Lebanon. Mudd joined GE Capital as vice president for business development in 1991; was appointed managing director, international for Commercial Equipment Financing in 1993; and was named president and CEO for European Fleet Services in 1995.
