WRQ Introduces New Market Development Group

SEATTLE--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 30, 1996--WRQ, a leader in enterprise-wide connectivity software, today announced its new market development group.
The market development group is responsible for developing strategic alliances, pursuing OEM (original equipment manufacturer) relationships and assisting with the evaluation/acquisition of technologies for WRQ.
Craig Schmidt, director of market development, oversees this five-member team. He was recently promoted into this position from marketing manager for network/mobile products at WRQ.
Schmidt's experience includes 18 years in the computer industry with such companies as Hewlett-Packard and Computer Associates. He holds a master' degree from San Diego State, masters credits from Stanford University, and a bachelor's degree from California State.
Members of the team are:
-- Dave Juran, market development manager, in charge of evolving and managing strategic and OEM relationships with operating system vendors such as Microsoft, Novell, SCO, and Apple.
Juran comes to WRQ from Microsoft, where he worked on the product marketing team for worldwide web server products and as a product manager in the consumer division. In addition, his background includes time with Seafirst Bank as an accounting manager. He received his master's degree from Duke University and his bachelor's degree from the University of Washington.
-- Chris Crane, market development manager, in charge of developing and managing strategic and OEM relationships with mainframe hardware and software vendors and consulting firms/systems integrators.
Crane comes to WRQ from SpaceLabs Medical Inc., a manufacturer of patient vital sign monitors and clinical information systems, where he was a business development manager. He was responsible for evaluating new business, market, and technology opportunities. He holds a master's degree from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, Tufts University and a bachelor's degree from Bowdoin College,
-- Sue Lewis, market development manager, responsible for building and managing strategic partnerships for WRQ in the hardware vendor area including HP, Digital, and Compaq.
Prior to WRQ, Lewis was director of product marketing for the Network Systems Management Division of Legent Corp., where her responsibilities included building a market leadership position for Legent's network management products in the help desk market space.
In addition, prior to Legent, Lewis was at Digital Equipment Corp. for 10 years in a variety of sales and management roles, most recently as a regional manager for the Network Integration Services business. She earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Washington and associate of applied sciences degree from North Seattle Community College, Seattle.
-- Mark Oppfelt, market development specialist, responsible for evolving and building strategic alliances in the vertical market arena.
Oppfelt's background includes experience with Microsoft as a corporate account manager. In addition, he worked for ElseWare Corp. as both a corporate, reseller, and OEM account manager and an associate product manager. Oppfelt earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Washington.
