Teaming to provide end-to-end data warehouse and advanced DSS solutions; SAS Institute Announces Alliance With Price Waterhouse LLP
Business Wire, June 11, 1996
SANTA CLARA, Ca.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 11, 1996--SAS Institute Inc. today announced a strategic alliance with Price Waterhouse LLP for implementing data warehouses and advanced decision support solutions. As a member of SAS Institute's Rapid Warehousing Program, Price Waterhouse will combine its world class consulting and systems integration services with the SAS product line. This new alliance offers common clients comprehensive and complete solutions for accessing, managing, organizing and exploiting corporate data assets to drive better, more informed decision making.
Under the agreement, Price Waterhouse will enhance its SAS software training and service delivery capabilities at its advanced Software Engineering Centers in Bethesda, Maryland; Rosemont, Illinois; Los Angeles; San Francisco; New York; Minneapolis; and Dallas. Price Waterhouse will also allocate resources to support implementation of SAS Institute's upcoming release of CFO Vision, a business solution for financial consolidation and reporting. SAS Institute will support Price Waterhouse's growing SAS Solutions services with advanced training and demonstration software.
The alliance is a natural extension of the long-standing relationship between Price Waterhouse and SAS Institute according to Wingate Swain, General Manager, Market Development at SAS Institute. "Over the years, Price Waterhouse and SAS Institute have worked together on a number of major projects for our mutual clients. Price Waterhouse has substantial expertise in developing SAS software solutions, and has built a team of more than 100 highly skilled professionals. Today, the volume of business has reached a critical mass that makes a more formal relationship desirable."
Glenn Galfond, Partner-In-Charge of Price Waterhouse's Management Analytics practice, said, "For over a decade, SAS software has been one of the important tools that we use to help our clients solve complex problems. The alliance helps us ensure that we will provide effective SAS solutions over the next decade as well. Since most Fortune 500 and multinational organizations already use SAS software, working together helps both organizations provide better service."
Now in its 20th anniversary year, SAS Institute is among the nation's top 10 independent software companies. The Institute credits much of its success to its substantial commitment to research and development. The company has traditionally led the industry in the percentage of revenue reinvested in R&D. In 1995, the Institute spent approximately 31 percent ($174.3 million) on research and development activities.
The SAS System, SAS Institute's flagship product is an integrated suite of information delivery software for business decision making. The SAS System was chosen 1996's "Product of the Year" in the category of data warehousing in a ballot distributed by DATAMATION magazine to its 200,000 readers. Currently, the SAS System is used at nearly 30,000 customer sites worldwide in business, industry, government, and education.
